I took a little hiatus from Developer Spotlights during the summer, choosing instead to focus on the important stuff, like telling you that new entourage was available on the site, etc. etc. etc. I am happy to announce the return of Developer Spotlights with this week's interview with Shana Priwer, multi-tasker extraordinaire.

Q: Who are you and why are you here?
A: I’m Shana Priwer. I’ve been with Autodesk for about 7.5 years and have worked on several different projects (including Max, Viz, and Autocad) as both designer and tester.

Q: What is your position?
A: QE lead for Impression.

Q: What do you do during an average day, or do you even have such a thing?
A: A typical day includes triaging Customer Error Reports (CERs), working with Beta and Community customers and researching their problems, managing the testing team and running the current phase of test development, writing test documentation, sandbox testing fixes from our development team... and in my free time, testing the product!

Q: What has been the most exciting part of working on Impression?
A:Working with such a vibrant and competent team. My least favorite “aha” moment (actually more of a “doh!” moment) was realizing that some members of our team weren’t able to test plotting because they’d been told to save paper. This has been rectified since we sent their manager to work for Greenpeace. :)

Q: You just went to China to visit some of the contractors that help us out with Impression. What was the most interesting part of your trip?
A: Meeting our contractors for the first time and seeing how devoted to Impression they really are. That and the “stinky tofu”.

Q: Like many members of the Impression team, you work the majority of your time remotely. What are the major differences for you between working in the office in San Rafael and at home?
A: The biggest difference is the 5 extra hours of work time that would be otherwise wasted commuting.

Q: You are the newest parent on our team. Any childrearing tips?
A: Drop your preconceived notions of how things should work, and adapt to whatever new situation comes your way. The same theory applies to just about everything.
